Ascent via Glacier Adventure Trail: 3h
Mountain guide and hut warden Peter Tscherrig explored a new path in early summer 2013 and built it in a "packer week", supported by many volunteers. In the meantime, the trail has been included in the national hiking trail network.
The trail leads from Fafleralp via Grundsee to the Lonza bridge, which can be reached and crossed after about an hour of hiking to continue towards Anenhütte. After another half hour in the direction of Anenhütte, a blue signpost shows the entrance to the glacier adventure trail. The trail marking changes from red-white to blue-white (alpine hiking trail). Over moraines, past the glacier gate you cross the Anenbach. The trail continues over glacier cut on long stretched gneiss plates and for attentive hikers past a small glacier mill. This varied alpine hiking trail, lined by an interesting mountain and glacier backdrop, is also a special pleasure for experienced mountain hikers.
The trail is very well marked and developed, technically not difficult, but you have to be sure-footed.
Note: Avoid the glacier adventure trail if it is raining or wet..
Rock Metal Climbing: 3.5h
Hiking route to the entrance:
From Fafleralp take the path over Grundsee, cross the Lonza bridge and after about 1.25 hours you will reach a blue sign "Gletschertor-Anenenhütte". A sign for the ROCK METAL CLIMBING ascent is clearly visible on the rock face of the blue-white marked glacier adventure trail directly in front of the Anenbach stream.
Rock metal climbing
The rock ascent is well secured with brackets, bolts and steel cables. Solid greyish-red gneiss and an unbelievable scenery high above the Langgletscher are inspiring. For all those who want to take a break on the way: there is a safe place to take a breather.
This ascent is also possible for beginners. Please urgently follow all Safety instructions.
Scheduling:
Fafleralp to start: 2.0 hours
Start to Anenhütte: 1.5 hours
300 vertical meters
