You can reach the Anenhütte easily and comfortably from Fafleralp. Various well-maintained and signposted trails lead you up the mountain from the parking area at Fafleralp. There are no steep or technically demanding passages to overcome. Therefore, the hike to the Anenhütte is also suitable as a family trip. There is a lot to see for children. Funny little cairns, called “Steinmännchen", line the path and there is enough time to build some manikins yourself during a break.

From the parking area at Fafleralp follow the signs “Grundsee-Anenhütte”. After 150 m, the path leads you to the right over the river Lonza. Keep on going slightly uphill over the valley bottom. After about 1 hour of hiking, the trail leads you again over the river Lonza and starts than to rise gradually. It becomes steeper. After 2 hours of hiking, you reach the lodge.

Turn left from the parking area, pass by the kiosk and keep on going in the direction of “Inneres Faflertal”. After 300m, the path turns right (be careful not to miss it!) and climbs steadily to “Guggialp” and past “Guggisee”. After about 2 hours, you cross the creek “Jegibach” and hike steadily uphill to the Anenhütte. The path offers a great variety and is nice to trek. There are no steep passages; therefore, it is also feasible for hikers with vertigo.

In early summer 2013, Peter Tscherrig, mountain guide and guardian, explored a new route. Together with volunteers he built the glacier adventure trail which has meanwhile been added to the national hiking trail network.

The trail starts from Fafleralp via Grundsee to the bridge over the river Lonza (Lonzabrücke). Getting there after about an hour, you cross the bridge and keep on going in the direction of the Anenhütte. After about half an hour a blue signpost indicates you the entry to the glacier adventure trail. You leave the red-white path marking and will be now on alpine hiking trails which is marked by blue-white stripes. Passing by moraines and the glacier mouth you cross Anenbach and keep on going along smoothly surfaces of gneiss slabs. Those with good eyes may even spot a glacier mill. The trail offers a great variety with its fantastic scenery of mountains and glaciers. Being very well marked and prepared and technically not too demanding, the glacier adventure trail suits every sure-footed hiker.

Please note: Do not use this trail by rain and wet conditions.

Recommendation: Enjoy the whole beauty and variety of the Lötschental and choose different routes for ascent and decent!
